Art on Black History Review

Wherever possible, the photos, sketches, and paintings on this site are works in the public domain and were made of the person or subject with whom we associate them. In some cases, this has not been possible. Many of these men and women were not honored in their own time. Many more lived before photography was common-place and did not move in the social circles to have been painted or sketched. In some of those cases we have provided less specific artwork that goes with their accomplishments or vocations. Here is the list of such artwork along with links to more information on the artists.
